Repairs, Refurb or Retrofit? How to Save Money on Pumps in 2026

Share

A pump going down doesn’t always mean it needs replacing.

The right team can have it back up and moving water in no time. Truflo Pumps service and repairs division operates from facilities in New South Wales and Queensland with our partner ITT Blakers covering Western Australia – handling repairs and rebuilds for pumps of all sizes, makes and models.

Repairs Done Right  Boiler maker carrying out welding on pumpset

Every pump that arrives at one of our workshops gets the same treatment.  A full strip-down, detailed photographic documentation, and a comprehensive report with transparent pricing before any work begins.

All repairs are carried out to OEM specifications and tested before the pump leaves our facility.  The goal is straightforward – extend asset life, improve reliability, and keep operational costs down.

Our workshops also carry out engine and electric motor inspection, fuel tank cleaning, fabrication and repairs including wear strips and undercarriage work, pipework modification, painting and re-galvanising, valve and component replacement, and retrofit control panels.

Refurbs – Bringing Pumps Back to Life Before and after image of drowned pumpset that was rebuilt to better than new

Some pumps arrive at our workshop in worse shape than others.

One pumpset spent close to six months underwater after and unexpected weather event.  Our team rebuilt the wet-end, fitted a new engine, flushed and polished the fuel tank, and installed new pipework.  The trailer was upgraded with higher ground clearance and off-road tyres for better manoeuvrability, lift points reduced from four to one for improved operator safety and the controller was replaced with our AquaBoss Asset Management system.

The result? A pump that would have been written off in most peoples eyes was back out in the field, performing better than before it was drowned.

Retrofits – The Smart Fix  Truflo Pumps wet-end being retrofitted to pumpset

Not every underperforming pump needs full replacement.  If the drive unit – diesel or electric – still has life left but the wet-end is struggling, a retrofit can extend the asset’s life, improve performance and cost a lot less than a new unit.

A client whose pumpset wasn’t performing found out that swapping out with a Truflo Pumps wet-end was a simple fix.  Our dewatering advisor had recommended fitting Truflo Pumps 250/200 wet-end – all 1.6 tonne of it.  The result was better performance, higher flow, money saved and a happy client.

We can also upgrade dated controllers to our AquaBoss Asset Management system as part of a retrofit, putting real-time monitoring and control in the operator’s hands.

Backed by Genuine Parts Support Parts being processed and packed for despatch

None of this happens without the parts to back it up.  Truflo Pumps holds over 900 square metres of OEM and after-market wear and critical parts, with a dedicated parts and repair team supporting every job.

Our in-house fabrication shop handles custom orders – pipe reducers, custom flanges, and standpipe parts built to exact specifications.

We also stock complete rebuild kits, including bearing frame seal kits, vac-pump rebuild kits, bearing kits and gasket kits, designed to make maintenance faster and simpler.
