Motor Neurone Disease: What is it?
MND is a progressive neurological disease where the motor neurones degenerate. Without functioning nerves to activate them, muscles waste and no longer function, affecting a person’s: neck, shoulders, breathing, hands, feet, arms, legs.
Imagine the assistance you would need if you or someone in your family had MND? This is why MND NSW is so important – but we can’t do it without your support!
- MND currently has no cure
- Two people are diagnosed, and a further two die, with MND in Australia each day
- Average survival time after diagnosis is 27 months
- MND creates high levels of disability
- A person living with MND needs assistance with eating, toileting, transferring, movement breathing, and communicating
- They are most often cared for by their partner/spouse, child, parent or friend.
In April 2022 the Truflo Pumps’ Team gathered together in solidarity with MND NSW to help gather garner support for the fight to defeat motor neurone disease (MND)—and this year we’re doing it again!
